Other Glow in the dark blasters

  • N-Strike Elite Rayven CS-18

This blaster is a glow in the dark nerf gun in Elite series. It was released in 2013 but now manufacturing has been discontinued by Nerf. The Rayven is very popular for two reasons. One is its impressive performance. Secondly, this is the only glow in the dark nerf gun in the entire Elite series.

The Rayven CS-18 takes after the bullpup design with the magazine and the firing mechanism behind the trigger and handle. The firing mech is a flywheel system that requires 4 ‘AA’ batteries to operate. The blaster fires in semi-automatic mode, where the acceleration trigger revs the flywheels and the trigger fires one dart. Now for the primary concern that we are discussing this blaster, the Glow in the dark feature. It works through the use of the innovative clip system called Firefly Tech clip. The clip takes in another 3 ‘AA’ batteries that power UV LEDs that charge the glow in the dark darts.

Now that the Rayven is not under production the blaster has become more of a collectible item. It is available in limited stock at Amazon at the time this article is written.

  • Nerf Rebelle Lumanate

Rebelle is a Nerf series with a lineup of pink themed blasters that is majorly designed for girls. And Lumanate is the latest in the range and the first Rebelle Glow in the dark Nerf gun. Surprisingly it is painted white with blue decals but still looks cute enough to make a girl Nerfer smile.

The Lumanate is a manual blaster requires priming to fire each dart. Firing does not require any batteries. But the blaster takes in three ‘AAA’ batteries for charging the darts to glow. There is a second trigger that turns a LED light on that charges the darts.

The package comes with three glow in the dark collectible darts that can be loaded be into the front of the muzzle. The internals of this blaster has a direct plunger system similar to the Elite series and so the performance is on par as well.

  • Nerf Vortex Lumitron

The Lumitron is a blaster in the Light-it-up sub-series of Vortex. The vortex series is unlike any other Nerf blasters. They do not shoot darts, balls, arrows or missiles. Instead, they fire disc-shaped ammo called XLR discs or Vortex Discs. In this case, glow in the dark discs.

The Lumitron blaster comes with the Firefly Tech Magazine which charges the glow in the dark discs. It takes in 4 ‘AA’ batteries to power the LEDs that charge the discs. It has a pump action priming mechanism and requires no batteries to actually fire the discs.

In most part the Vortex series has now been discontinued by Nerf and the blasters are no more produced. But the Lumitron is still available on Amazon from a few sellers.

With the Vortex Firefly tech kit, you can convert any magazine-fed Vortex blaster into a glow in the dark nerf gun. The package comes with Firefly Tech Magazine and 10 glowing discs.
